FC Bayern | Nagelsmann celebrates record youngster: “Incredible talent”

From the point of view of FC Bayern, Friday evening was determined by the depressing fact of having completely botched the start of the second half of the season with the 1: 2 home defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Around the third defeat of the season, club history was also written for the Munich team – in the person of Paul Wanner.

At the tender age of 16 years and 15 days, the midfielder was substituted on by head coach Julian Nagelsmann around a quarter of an hour before the end and has thus secured a place in the annals of Bundesliga history.

After BVB’s Youssoufa Moukoko (16 years and one day), Paul Wanner is the youngest player to ever appear in the Bundesliga. The home grown man was allowed to run for Marc Roca in the last few minutes and stepped onto the side of Lucas Copado, who, at the age of 17, is only slightly older than Wanner himself.

With the two substitutions, Nagelsmann gave the two teenagers their professional debut for FC Bayern, although the talents could no longer influence the result for the better.

After the game, Bayern’s head coach was still full of praise for the two debutants. Above all, the B-youth Paul Wanner received special praise from the FCB coach: “He is an incredible talent, left foot, very fast, very ball-safe, courageous,” said Nagelsmann, praising the top talent, whom he already has the potential to become predicted a great career.

“He has to stay clear in his head, then the door and gate are open to him. If he doesn’t stay clear in his head, it closes again quickly,” he said of Wanner, who made ten ball contacts and one in his first quarter of an hour in the Bundesliga had a positive duel record.

FC Bayern’s youngest ever Bundesliga player

According to Nagelsmann, FC Bayern has an “outstanding player in the jewel, but up here it is decided where to go. Down below, he can do everything.”

It is clear that Wanner, who only turned 16 in December, should initially be further promoted and developed on the FC Bayern Campus. If the precarious corona situation at the German champions relaxes promptly with nine positive cases, further assignments in the professional team are initially unlikely.

For the time being, however, nobody will be able to take the record for the youngest Bayern player of all time.
