Nathanaël Mbuku is moving on loan from FC Augsburg to French second division club AS Saint-Étienne. As the two clubs announced late on Sunday evening, the 21-year-old winger will be on loan for six months. The deal does not include a purchase option. Mbuku, who moved from Stade Reims to Fuggerstadt at the end of January 2023, still has a contract with FCA until 2027.

Mbuku has made three appearances in the Bundesliga so far, one of which he completed this season. The attacker also played for FCA’s U23s in the Bavarian Regional League this season, where he contributed two goals and an assist in three appearances.

“We are convinced of Nathanaël’s abilities and potential. However, due to the competitive situation in the squad, we think a loan makes sense at this point. Nathanaël should collect as many minutes as possible in Saint-Étienne and develop further in order to return to Augsburg stronger in the summer,” said sports director Marinko Jurendic.
