Fatal poisoning with ecstasy in German restaurant possible due to dealer error | Abroad

This is reported by the German newspaper Bild. A total of eight friends, all between 33 and 52 years old, were at the Italian restaurant La Vita in Weiden on Sunday evening. They drank a bottle of champagne, which they already thought tasted bad, and soon after that they all showed symptoms of poisoning.

When the police and emergency personnel arrived, some of the guests were lying on the floor and some were foaming at the mouth. They were taken to hospital. The 52-year-old man died there. The others are now doing well under the circumstances. Five people are still in hospital.

One hundred grams of ecstasy

The detectives are looking for the mysterious drug smugglers who have filled the 3-liter bottle of ‘Moët & Chandon’ with one hundred grams of ecstasy. Investigators believe that the dealers made a mistake and called the death of the 52-year-old a “tragic accident”. The bottle would never have been intended for the restaurant.
