While Hamburger SV is once again fighting for its long-awaited promotion in the 2nd Bundesliga, those responsible have important personnel decisions to make. There will be a groundbreaking contract summit at HSV before Christmas.
As “Bild” reports, this is about the future of the audience favorite Bakery Jatta. The 25-year-old’s contract expires. As of now, he can leave HSV for free next summer.
According to the report, it is completely open whether there will be further cooperation. As is so often the case in professional business, money could become the sticking point.
Jatta is currently expected to earn around 350,000 euros per year, but is apparently hoping for a significant salary increase by signing a new contract.
Most recently it was said that HSV wanted to increase the offensive player’s salary primarily through lucrative bonus payments.
The club and the Jatta management are said to have already exchanged numbers at a first meeting. According to the report, both parties are still far apart.
Another HSV top performer should extend
Jatta himself would like to extend his seven-year commitment to HSV. “I like being here. I trust my management with the rest and I hope everything will work out. They’ll do it,” he said recently.
In addition to the talks with Jatta’s representatives, HSV also has negotiations with goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes on the agenda before Christmas. The 31-year-old’s contract also expires and is to be extended in the long term.
Sebastian Schonlau and Jonas Meffert recently extended their working papers until 2026 and 2025 respectively.
HSV still has the league games against SC Paderborn and 1. FC Nürnberg ahead of them this football year. The third round game in the DFB Cup against Hertha BSC will also take place on Wednesday (8:45 p.m.).
