At the age of 39: Džeko before returning Italy

The Bundesliga season is just over. But the clubs are already planning for the coming season. All important news in the transfer ticker.
This year’s transfer summer has it all. This is because the clubs are allowed to sign players for the first time in two different periods. Due to the club World Cup, the first transfer window for the participating clubs was open from June 1st to June 10th. The regular transfer window then extends from July 1st to September 1st.
Even at almost 40 years he doesn’t think of quitting. Edin Džeko is apparently faced with a return to series A. After his transfer -free farewell to Fenerbahce, AC Florence is said to have secured the services of the 39 -year -old attacker. The “Gazzetta Dello Sport” reports.
According to this, Džeko should sign a contract for a year in Tuscany – with an option for another season. The former professional of AS Rome and Inter Milan could be hunted again in Italy.
In 2009 the Bosnian became German champion with VfL Wolfsburg. For Fenerbahce, the striker has scored 46 goals in 99 competitive games in the past two years.
FC Basel has a new head coach: Ludovic Magnin will take over Fabio Celestini’s office for the coming season. The 46-year-old signed a contract with the top Swiss club until 2026 and will look after the team from the start of training on June 20.
Magnin looks back on a versatile career – as a player active at VfB Stuttgart and Werder Bremen, he later gained experience in Switzerland and Austria as a trainer. His career on the sidelines started in the youngsters of FC Zurich, where he later also coached the professional team.
After a commitment to the Austrian SCR Altach, Magnin most recently worked at FC Lausanne-Sport.
Benedikt Pichler changes from Bundesliga relegated Holstein Kiel to the future second division rival Hannover 96. The 27-year-old professional from Austria is already the seventh newcomer in the team of the new head coach Christian Titz.
In addition to the striker Pichler, Bastian Allgeier (SSV Ulm), Jonas Sterner (Holstein Kiel), Maurice Neubauer (SV Elversberg), Franz Roggow (Borussia Dortmund II), Benjamin Källman (KS Cracovia) and rental returnee Marius Wörl (Arminia Bielefeld) new in the squad of Lower Saxony.
The Kielers have already found replacement for Pichler. Shortly after his farewell, they signed center forward Marcus Müller. The 22-year-old comes from the third division club VfL Osnabrück and received a three-year contract. Müller was signed by the Osnabrückers in 2024 and scored three goals.
After a season with mixed results, Real Madrid has set a clear signal on the transfer market: The Spanish record champion signed the 17-year exceptional talent Franco Mastantuono.
