Coosje is pregnant
“I never knew that with letting go I would get so much life back. I feel very proud to tell you that this summer I will be a mom for the first time,” said Coosje.
Family
Coosje is the daughter of Ernst Daniël Smid and ballerina Rosemarie Giesen van der Sluis, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2012. Ernst already had two children before his relationship with Rosemarie.
Parkinson
In 2014, Coosje became known to the general public through her participation in The voice of Holland, just after her mother died and her father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. It was only in November 2019 that Ernst Daniël announced that he has Parkinson’s in a Pauw broadcast. His health continues to deteriorate.
Letter for his grandchildren
More than a year ago, Ernst let Daniël to the AD know that he wrote a letter for his grandchildren, for after his death. He wants them to have a memento of him. He said at the time: “I have seen with my wife Roos how quickly things can suddenly go. Within a year she was gone, because of pancreatic cancer. My father was suddenly gone too, because of his heart. I didn’t know him well enough. I want to do that differently. I realize that it could be over at any moment.”
