English football: Former HSV professional Kompany becomes coach in Burnley

Former Hamburg Bundesliga professional Vincent Kompany will be the coach of FC Burnley, who have been relegated to the English first division. This was announced by the football club.

The former Belgian national defender was recently traded as a possible Bundesliga coach, including at Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The 36-year-old had coached the traditional Belgian club RSC Anderlecht for the past three years, in the first season as a player-coach. This season he reached third place in the table and made it into the cup final with the club. Kompany played for HSV between 2006 and 2008 before moving to Manchester City changed, became a permanent fixture there in eleven years and was captain.

In Burnley should he return the club to the premier league to lead. The club was relegated as 18th that year.
