On his new album The Boy Named If, legendary British songwriter Elvis Costello (along with his band The Imposters) not only ponders about growing up, but also, in a way, against it. He also sees this sung state of amazement and wonder, which children have and soon lose, in guitar beginners. It’s only fitting that alongside his new album (and several other projects), Costello has also released a comedic guitar masterclass of sorts called “How to Play the Guitar and Y” — which unfortunately is only available on the US version at the moment heard from Audible. We spoke to Costello about that — and how he actually likes the new ABBA album “Voyage”.
