Election of the President of the Republic: another black smoke

Nothing in fact even on the third ballot. Mattarella gets 215 preferences, a vote for the former world champion Tardelli

The third day of voting for the election of the President of the Republic also ends with a black smoke. Compared to the previous two, however, the number of blank ballots drops (412) and at the same time some `candidates’ rise, in particular the outgoing head of state, Sergio Mattarella, who gets 125 preferences, a significant leap forward compared to yesterday’s peak (39). Following the ex-deputy of the Brothers of Italy, Guido Crosetto, surprisingly voted by 114 electors, well over the 61 available to Giorgia Meloni’s party. Even the candidate of the former Cinquestelle, Paolo Maddalena, increases the consensus to 62, while yesterday he stopped at 39. Pier Ferdinando Casini, followed him with 51 votes by entering the list of so-called `candidates’. Then, however, the 19 preferences obtained by the Minister of Economic Development, the Northern League player Giancarlo Giorgetti, must also be recorded.

Tardelli too

The third ballot was attended by 978 electors, while the ballots were void 22 and those dispersed 84. The rest of the ballot, then, delivers some “confirmations”, such as those of Marta Cartabia: the Minister of Justice gets 8 preferences, just like Luigi Manconi. Followed by Pier Luigi Bersani and the senatùr founder of the League, Umberto Bossi, both with 7 votes, while Marco Cappato, Doria, Giuseppe Moles and Clemente Mastella with 6, Prime Minister Mario Draghi with 5, the leader of Forza Italia, Silvio Berlusconi , and the chief prosecutor of Catanzaro, Nicola Gratteri, 4, Elisabetta Belloni 3. Among the voted also the journalist Bruno Vespa with 2 preferences, but also the former world champion with Italy in 1982, Marco Tardelli, the singer-songwriter Claudio Baglioni and the former candidate for mayor of Rome for the center-right, Enrico Michetti.
