ECOWAS considers shooting in Guinea-Bissau an attempted coup

A coup d’état attempt was made in Guinea-Bissau, the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) said. The President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Shisoku Embalo, said that the shooting in the capital of Bissau lasted five hours, there are dead. He himself is fine, he is in the presidential palace, the situation is under control. In social networks, the head of state wrote about the calm returning to the country.

Earlier, near the government house, where an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers was held with the participation of the prime minister and the president, the sounds of gunfire were heard. The attackers in civilian clothes were armed with machine guns and grenade launchers. No one took responsibility for the assault.
