Duncan Laurence, with his appearance and his appearance, annoys Rick Romijn, one of the big stars of Radio 538. “So I really think that’s a jellyfish of a guy.”

Rick Romijn, who returns after the weekend with his colleagues in the morning of Radio 538, is increasingly annoyed by Duncan Laurence. Many people notice that he was still so fresh and sympathetic when he started the Eurovision Song Contest, but nowadays he walks around grumpy and pale in all kinds of black robes.

‘Jellyfish of a guy’

It irritates Rick. “You know what’s really weird? That you judge someone on what you see”, he confesses in the morning show by Tim Kline. “So I really think that Duncan Laurence is a jellyfish of a guy. I don’t know him at all, but then I see him walking around with that dog on his hands and then I think to myself: yes…”

Sidekick Niels van Baarlen: “I do have the idea – he makes amazing records, hey, let’s put that first – that there is always a lot of fuss around him. There’s nagging, there’s arguing, it’s difficult, it’s shadowy.”

Complicated

Tim steps in for Duncan. “On the other hand, I don’t know how you become as a person when you are an unknown singer and you suddenly win the Eurovision Song Contest. The whole world suddenly wants something from you. That is complicated though.”

Rick doesn’t think that’s a valid excuse. “But imagine: you win a great prize tonight. The price of prizes. Then you won’t speak half English tomorrow, will you?”

Hellevoetsluis

When the newsreader on duty admits that she sometimes speaks English in our country, because her father is from New Zealand, Niels remarks: “Yes, but Duncan’s father is not from New Zealand.”

Rick: “No, he comes from (puts on an American accent, ed.) Hellevoetsluis. Hahaha.”
