Look for it especially in those clubs that don’t just chase Hollywood blockbusters: distributed by the Cineteca di Bologna for the masterpieces of cinema rediscovered and beautifully restored (original with subtitles) is available again The daisies by Věra Chytilová, the film that in 1966 the Czech National Assembly called it «incomprehensible rubbish» and that it took ten years to be released from seizure and rehabilitated.

The film follows the misadventures of two bored and exuberant girls who try to fulfill their wacky reveries and end up wreaking havoc wherever they go, starting with dates with much older suitors who regularly go dry.

The protagonists of Vera Chytilová’s restored film “The Daisies” (1966)

Defined by the director herself «a philosophical documentary in the form of a farce» the film rejects the traditional narrative progression, as well as the logic that traditionally concatenates events: here we are rather faced with a succession of colorful and crackling curtainswho look more to exuberant comedians than traditional comedies (like when they turn the show upside down in a cabaret or crash a lavish banquet).

For those who want to rediscover the taste of cinematic sneer.
