For many years, Marion Wiestarter was part of the German biathlon team. However, another years are no longer added.
After more than ten years in biathlon, Marion Wiestensarter ended her career. On her Instagram profile, the 30-year-old announced that she would stop “after many years full of sweat, snow and emotions”. “It was a time with many beautiful, but also challenging moments. I am incredibly grateful for everything I was able to experience,” said Wiestarter in her post.
The biathlete thanked her family and friends for the years of support. “Without you, none of this would have been possible!” She made it clear.
Wiesensarter became known for their participation in the 2013 Biathlon Junior World Championships when she won bronze. She also celebrated some successes at German Championships, and in 2019, for example, won bronze in the sprint or 2022 silver in singles.
Internationally, she was always on the road in the second-class IBU Cup, but also played some races in the first-class World Cup, for example, started in the 2020/21 season, where, among other things, she drew attention to herself with a strong eleventh place in the individual in Antholz.
Another World Cup race will no longer be added. For her future, she does not reveal any specific professional plans, only said: “Of course, I will stay loyal to the biathlon – from now on as a fan and supporter on the edge of the route or as a driving service with one or the other mountain rumbling.”
Several active or former biathletes spoke up under their farewell mail. For example, World Cup winner Franziska Preuss wrote: “Congratulations on your career, Marion, always in the right place.” Julia Tannheimer commented: “All the best, Marion.” Laura Dahlmeier also chose the same words, but then decided on her Bavarian dialect: “Ois Guade, Marion.”
