“I ran away from home to become a cyclist.” Ab Geldermans became one of the best in the world, but never really left his city of Beverwijk. He wore the yellow sweater in the Tour de France, was the first Dutchman to win the Belgian classic Liège-Bastogne-Liège and became a cycling legend. He was honored for it, as for a few before their death is reserved: with his own street name in his hometown. Geldermans died at the age of 90.
