Dries Roelvink slams Eurovision entry S10: ‘No singer’

Dries Roelvink is not at all impressed by Stien den Hollander, who as S10 will represent us for a long time in the Eurovision Song Contest. “I like a real singer more”, he sneezes.

Dries Roelvink actually wanted to go to the Eurovision Song Contest himself this year. He made a very bombastic song with which he wanted to conquer Europe, but the AvroTros didn’t listen to that at all. Now 21-year-old Stien den Hollander will represent our country in Italy. She is active under the stage name S10.

“What’s that kid got?”

Dries doesn’t believe in it at all. “When I googled S10, I saw what she’s been through. I didn’t know what I was reading and thought: what is wrong with that child? S10 is not really a singer who I think will blow the whole of Europe away,” he says in conversation with the Nieuwe Revu.

She’s not a real singer at all, he sneezes. “I prefer a real singer like Trijntje or Glennis. But my son Dave Roelvink hears something angelic in her voice.”

resentful?

Is Dries saying this out of spite? After all, he also desperately wanted to climb the multi-million dollar podium of the Eurovision Song Contest. “When I submitted my contribution, I gave myself a 10 percent chance.”

“I’m 63 now and I had recorded a ballad that might have been a better entry for the 1985 Eurovision Song Contest. Was I disappointed? Slightly.”
