Katrin Verlende is the owner of dog Olympia. On January 31, she put out a Facebook appeal to find her lost dog. “I lost my dog ​​in Varsenare.” Katrin lives in Ghent, but teaches in Varsenare. “All together I am gone for four hours. Because that is too long, I take her in the crate and let her out before and after.”

That also happens that day. “We walked past a soccer field where a training session was underway. Olympia was clearly interested in the balls. She jumped her front legs on the fence and within seconds someone slammed a ball against the fence just where she was standing and then the nightmare started.” , Katrin tells her story.

Katrin had only just adopted the dog.

Horrible find

A contractor from Koekelare made a gruesome discovery at a construction site in Smissebeekstraat in Varsenare. He found a dead dog in the well on Tuesday morning. The animal was tied by a leash to a water pump.

In all likelihood, someone purposely tied up the animal and made it heavier, resulting in death. The police started an investigation.
