Tino Piontek, also known as DJ Purple Disco Machine, won the 2023 Grammy Awards.

On the night of Monday, the man from Dresden received one of the coveted trophies in Los Angeles. Piontek was awarded in the category “Best Remix Recording” for a remix of the track “About Damn Time” by US singer Lizzo.

“I’m just blown away,” the man with the mustache said in an interview the Grammy organizers posted on Instagram. He didn’t expect the success because the “Best Remix Recording” category was so heavily occupied. When asked how long it would be before he really understood the victory, he said: “I think in a few days when I’m home.” He wanted to put the trophy in his studio.

The Grammy Awards are considered the most important music prize in the world. This year trophies were awarded in 91 categories. Piontek was not the only winner from Germany.
