Train traffic was interrupted for the second time on the route between Meppel and Zwolle this evening. In both cases, a switch failure was the cause, the NS reports.
The first defect was discovered at the beginning of the evening. The NS reported around 8 p.m. that the problems had been resolved.
Just after 10 p.m. there was another delay due to a switch failure. This time, the rail operator expects the trains to start running again after midnight.
Stranded travelers were able to use replacement bus transport during the first disruption. It is unclear whether this will happen again.
It is also unknown how the malfunction could occur twice within a short period of time.
