Disruption over: NS trains are running again | 1Limburg

NS trains will be running again on Monday after technical problems. As a result, there were no NS trains in the Netherlands for most of the day on Sunday.

Trains from regional carriers such as Arriva and international trains were allowed to run.

Longer or shorter
A spokesperson for the NS says that people may still be able to notice a few things about the misery of the day before. For example, trains can be longer or shorter than travelers are used to on a particular route. The type of train can also deviate from what normally runs on a route.

Impact big
The IT outage occurred at the end of Sunday morning and affected the system that makes the current schedules for trains and staff. The cause had already been remedied on Sunday, but the impact turned out to be too great to allow trains to run that day. “In order to start up reliably, systems must be updated and trains must be brought to the right place. That takes time,” the NS said in a statement on Sunday.

No current information
The decision to stop driving was one you’d rather not take, but not only was there no up-to-date travel information for travelers, there were also problems behind the scenes. For example, the malfunction made it difficult to rearrange personnel and trains if, for example, there was a delay somewhere.

According to a spokesperson for the NS, there is no reason to think that it was a possible hack of the system.
