Discover medieval flavors and dishes in Damme
Since last year you can get to know medieval dishes again, thanks to food archaeological research by Jeroen Van Vaerenbergh. He put together several recipes after sifting through old tolls and excavations. Together with about 20 entrepreneurs, he has now developed even more medieval dishes based on ingredients that are rooted in the Zwin region.
Coast as a sustainable destination
The Middle Ages on your plate is a result of the experience expo Verdwenen Zwinhavens. Westtoer is thus focusing on the coast as a sustainable destination. The start of the summer season looks promising, even though the holidays in Wallonia start a week later.
“If we now look at the forecasts for July and August, the hotels are very satisfied. The bookings come in very quickly. Vacation rentals are moderately optimistic. They feel it more than the French-speaking Belgians are on leave from the second week of July. They see that the figures are slightly less than last year,” concludes Westtoer chairman Sabien Lahaye-Battheu.
