Antti Tuisku drove the audience wild in his WC debut. The journey was hard, but rewarding.
– If you could have mint cocoa in the cottage in the evening. That would be nice. Sausage and potatoes have been promised to me, Antti Tuisku laughed on Saturday after his WC skiing debut.
Tuisku competed in the Imatra SM skiing in the traditional intermediate start competition. He left for 10 kilometers, which means he had to plow a snowy track.
Before the competition, the artist received hundreds of messages urging him to enjoy himself.
– At the end of the first round, I wondered who would really enjoy this. It was a great feeling afterwards. In the last lap, I started to register encouragement from around me. I felt a sense of movement when I climbed the trainer’s hill for the last time.
A lot of people had arrived at the place wearing AT Ski Team hats from the Tuisku stable. The name of the pop star who ended his career was shouted many times at the finish line.
– It’s great to think how many people there are here who haven’t been involved in skiing before. I am satisfied with the performance.

Tuisku completed 10 kilometers in 32:59.6. The competition is still in progress, but the last debutante of the competition is not.
He even managed to overtake in the race.
– It was surprising. I thought, what if I pass and I can’t keep up. I thought we’d just go now.
– There were more weak moments than good moments in the race. At some point in every round I thought, when will this end. In the last lap, I had time to think that suddenly this was over.
Tuisku had a little flu a week ago. It was a victory for him to be able to compete. After the race, there will be food.
The cap is not held by the skier. He doesn’t want to deny himself too much.
– I have given myself permission to take two sauna baths every six weeks or so. You don’t have to deny yourself everything.
