Diadoro jewelry retailers want to advance digitalization

After the Austrian jewelry retailer Diadoro Handels GmbH with the two Diadoro stores in Wörgl and Jenbach filed for bankruptcy with the responsible regional court in Steyr last week, the group is now announcing its further plans.

“In order to be able to maintain a powerful and economically stable structure in the future and to grow again, structural measures and tougher cuts here and there are essential,” explains Michael Barta, Managing Director of Diaconnex Consulting GmbH, Diadoro network headquarters. The closure of the locations in Tyrol was one of these necessary steps and a prerequisite for the strategic realignment of the association headquarters. At the same time, the group reports that the traditional company Plakolm, which already operates two Diadoro locations in Upper Austria, has also taken over the two locations of the Diadoro subsidiary Ute Habenicht GmbH in Klagenfurt.

In the future, the focus will be on targeted support for the network partners. The headquarters now wants to focus more on digital development. The web shops operated by Diadoro, which according to the company “have recently no longer met expectations in the area of e-commerce”, are to be temporarily closed at the end of this year in order to establish a modern online business model. Digital customer loyalty programs should also be developed to strengthen stationary retail.

The Diadoro Jewelers are an association of more than 60 independent, medium-sized family businesses from Austria and Germany, which together achieve a turnover of around 25 million euros. In addition to the stationary stores, they have also been operating their own online shops since 2017. The Diadoro group headquarters in St. Florian near Linz acts as the group’s higher-level organizational unit and provides central services such as online and offline marketing, the development of proprietary lines, partnerships with suppliers and the exchange of information within the group.
