The small winning streak of the German hockey men in the ProLeague season has stopped.

After four victories in a row, the world champions lost 2-0 (0-1) in Amsterdam against their group opponents in the European Championship, the Netherlands.

The hosts, who were clearly inferior to the DHB selection in the penalty shootout on Saturday, advanced to third place in the classification.

The decision for the 2022 ProLeague winner was made by goals from Thierry Brinkman (22nd minute) and Jip Janssen (34th). Timm Herzsprung (Uhlenhorst Mülheim) missed a penalty for Germany, but goalkeeper Alexander Stadler was able to save one.

The day before, the DHB selection prevailed 4-1 in a game that had been open for a long time against New Zealand. Gonzalo Peillat (Mannheimer HC) and Herzsprung each scored two goals. In the final two games, national coach André Henning’s team will meet Spain on July 2nd and 5th in Antwerp.
