Official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova explained on Friday that withdrawal of accreditation employees of Deutsche Welle media company does not mean for them the need to leave Russia.

“The surrender of accreditation does not mean that they need to leave somewhere,” Zakharova said.

According to a Foreign Ministry spokesman, no one from the Deutsche Welle office contacted Russian diplomats, writes TASS.

“The most interesting thing is that … at least until this morning, the Deutsche Welle office manager did not call us. This is surprising, but it is a fact,” Zakharova said.

Zakharova added that German diplomats announced the distancing of the German government.

At the Russian Foreign Ministry, Zakharova concluded, “we are always in touch, ready to help, provide assistance, answer questions, get into position.”
