Desperately looking for dad’s guitar

Some people live on in pictures, others in songs or the sound of an instrument.

In her memory, Nadine Krech (42) from Öhringen (Baden-Württemberg) always sees and hears her deceased father with this guitar: an Ibanez Concord 752 Black Beauty.

The instrument was lost for a long time. Now it shall be in the capital!

“I was totally taken by surprise when my father died,” says Krech. “Two days earlier he had stroked my baby bump.”

On May 4, 2015, Eberhard “Ebbe” Krech died at the age of 61. Krech’s second son was born just three days before the funeral. “It was a complete emotional chaos,” she says. “On the one hand I was happy about the birth of my son, on the other hand I was sad about the death of my father.”

The father’s favorite way to play the guitar was “Brothers in Arms” by Mark Knopfler’s cult band Dire Straits (Photo: private)

At that moment she had no head for settling the estate. A relative got the black guitar from the 70s. Two years ago she sold the instrument to Berlin via Facebook for 400 euros.

“She didn’t know how much my heart is attached to it,” says the daughter. “My father actually had a lot of guitars. But in my mind I always see him with that one guitar.”

Now the woman from Baden-Württemberg is desperately looking for the instrument. Krech: “I would also buy the guitar back and pick it up with my brother in Berlin.”
