Today the Den Oudsten Committee presented its investigation into a mortar accident in Mali (2016). Since 2023, the committee has been investigating this accident on behalf of then Minister Ollongren, in which Sergeant 1st Class Henry Hoving and Corporal Kevin Roggeveld were killed and 2 colleagues were injured.
In its investigation, the committee examined, among other things, whether there was individual negligent or culpable conduct in the accident in Mali.
The investigation by the Den Oudsten Committee follows an earlier investigation by the Dutch Safety Board (2017) and an investigation by the Van der Veer Committee (2018).
The minister received the report today and sent it to the House of Representatives with an initial response. A more detailed substantive response will follow in 4 weeks.
