DEL: Düsseldorfer EG ends series of bankruptcies

The Düsseldorfer EG has won again in the German ice hockey league after eight defeats in a row.

The team of head coach Harold Kreis defeated the Nuremberg Ice Tigers in their own arena thanks to a strong second third 5:4 (0:2, 4:0, 1:2). For the Franks it was the first defeat after three wins in a row.

Dusseldorf turned up after a 0-2 deficit in the second period. Brendan O’Donnell (26′) and Tobias Eder (26′) equalized within seven seconds before Stephen MacAulay (36′) and Brett Olson (38′) increased the lead to 4:2 before the siren sounded. In the last section, DEG brought the lead to the finish with a lot of passion.

Although 750 fans were admitted, the hall remained empty. “DEG does not want to have to select who is allowed to come from the closest circle and who is not,” said Managing Director Harald Wirtz. Therefore, no spectators should come to the other two home games before the Olympics.
