Decathlon is closing its last two stores in the US over the next month, Decathlon USA CEO Christian Ollier told the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper. The closure is part of a new strategy by the French sports retailer.

In the United States, Decathlon intends to focus on e-commerce and sales at other retailers. For example, Decathlon wants to sell at Walmart and Target, among others. “We are changing our business model to adapt to the current market conditions and to better meet the needs of our customers"Ollier told the San Francisco Chronicle.

Decathlon returned to the United States in 2017. The sports chain was already active in the US between 1999 and 2006 with a few stores in the Boston area. In 2017, the company focused on the west coast of the country and opened a branch in San Francisco.
