The beloved British nature documentary maker David Attenborough broke the record, says the British Broadcasting Corporation BBC.
At 99, Attenborough is the oldest person to win a Daytime Emmy. The documentarian received the award Secret Lives of Orangutans from his documentary.
Attenborough was awarded the best presenter of a non-daily daytime programme.
Previously, the record was held by Dick Van Dyke, who received the award at the age of 98. He was awarded for his guest role in the drama series in 2024.
Attenborough, who will be 100 years old next May, did not participate in the celebrations in California, USA, the BBC reports.
Sir David Attenborough has received the highest knighthood in his home country for the work he has done with nature documentaries.
The voice of the documentarian is so loved that it has been copied with the help of artificial intelligence. Attenborough himself is not happy about it.
– I am very concerned to find that some people are stealing my voice and I am strongly against the fact that they are using my voice to push their own cause, the documentarian told the media last year.
More than 40 animal and plant species have been named after Attenborough, the BBC reports.
