Dangerous cycle path in Hollandscheveld has been refurbished ‘We can make a good impression as Hollandscheveld’

Cycling on the Kerkhoflaan in Hollandscheveld. It was a drama. even life-threatening, Local Interest Hollandscheveld thought. But that is now in the past. The cycle path on the Kerkhoflaan in Hollandscheveld has been considerably refurbished. It was officially opened on Tuesday

It was a long-cherished wish of the inhabitants of Hollandscheveld and Nieuwlande that the bicycle pass was overhauled. By bike, how could it be otherwise, deputy Henk Brink and alderman Roelof Bisschop reopened onto the path. Students (from Nieuwlande) and recreational cyclists can now enjoy a pleasant path again.

‘A sustainable approach has been chosen in Hollandscheveld, namely a concrete path. Concrete paths have a long life and require little or no maintenance. Moreover, it is comfortable for different types of bicycles.

Deputy Henk Brink also contributes: “Residents and visitors like to use the cycle paths in Drenthe. We are number one cycling province for a reason! To continue to do so, we must invest in the quality of the cycle paths. Especially when there must be room on the cycle path for different types of transport, such as cargo bicycles, wheelchair bicycles and racing bicycles. Everyone should be able to enjoy recreation on bicycles .”

Cycle path connects villages

Alderman Roelof Bisschop: “I am happy and proud to be able to open this cycle path located in a beautiful wooded area. Many recreational cyclists use this cycle path and it also connects the villages with each other. We have wanted to refurbish this cycle path for some time. However, it costs a lot of money to improve a cycle path and the municipal financial resources were not there. That is why we are very happy with the contribution we received from the Province of Drenthe to be able to refurbish the cycle path together.”

Bert van der Weide of Local Interest Hollandscheveld is also satisfied. “As Hollandscheveld, we can once again present ourselves well to all users. Schoolchildren, recreational cyclists. The path is part of a few well-used cycling routes.”
