Cycling, Saudi Tour: Groenewegen’s victory in the third stage

BikeExchange sprinter Jayco leads McLay and Ewan. Teammate Mezgec’s train was decisive. The Colombian Buitrago remains the leader in the standings

Shot of Dylan Groenewegen. The Dutchman dominates the sprint that decides the third stage of the Saudi Tour, the 181.2 km Tayma Hadaj Well-Alula Old Town. First win of the season for him and for BikeExchange Jayco. The 28-year-old made the most of his teammates’ work with Luka Mezgec invaluable in leading his teammate into the torturous final. Behind Groenewegen the British McLay while Caleb Ewan has to settle for third place.

Italians

In the third stage again placings for the Italians. Fifth place for Dainese, ninth for Consonni and tenth for Ballerini. The Colombian Santiago Buitrago remains in command of the race. Tomorrow fourth stage Winter Park-Skyviews of Harrat Uwayrid of 149.3 km.
