crumbling concrete! Marggraff Bridge new for 16 million euros

The Marggraff bridge over the Britz connecting canal has concrete cancer.

An important connection between Baumschulenweg and Niederschöneweide. The Federal Waterways and Shipping Agency wants to start building the new building (costs 16 million euros) this year.

A tram ran over the bridge until 1973 – no tracks are planned on the new building. “No space for the traffic turnaround!”, the Berlin passenger association is annoyed. “The Senate must ensure that a track road is also possible in the future.” It’s about the tram line from Potsdamer Platz to Schöneweide.

The Transport Senate says: Federal planning began in 2015, well before the 2019 Berlin local transport plan and therefore so far without tram provision. The exact route has not yet been determined; it is to be implemented by 2035.
