‘Cow Forme’ wants to help job seekers find a job in livestock farming

The first five West Flemish job seekers have already been introduced to the job in Poperinge this week. Today they were in De Biezenhoeve in Watou. Ilse Louwagie, Inagro: “They went to milking on a dairy farm in Moorslede, they were introduced to the field work. They also cared for the animals. What should you pay attention to and what signals do the cows give? They also learned what a cow is like. eat and how to feed them.”

Nick Buyze, job seeker: “I like it. The animals, nature. The varied work too. You won’t see me sitting behind a computer all day.”

Running a dairy farm is more than a full-time job. Two external employees have also been working at Sofie and Geert for some time to keep the work-life balance in balance. Sofie Vanpeperstraete, De Biezenhoeve, Watou: “That is also an added value of having employees. They know the company through and through. If we want to take a break, we can count on their know-how and competences.”

The introductory week prepares job seekers for longer individual vocational training offered by VDAB. Despite the need for extra hands, vacancies are only trickling in. A second week of training will follow later this year.
