The Security Council of the 25 mayors who chair a security region will consider the package of measures on Monday evening, which the cabinet wants to announce on Tuesday. There are many relaxations to come. The mayors are discussing with Justice Minister Dilan Yesilgöz what adjusting the corona policy means for celebrating carnival at the end of February.
Carnival is mainly celebrated in the south and east of the country from February 26 to March 2. All parades have already been cancelled, but if all relaxation continues, carnival celebrants can gather on the streets and in bars until the beginning of the night. The Security Council would prefer the cabinet to set national rules for celebrating carnival to prevent enthusiasts from traveling en masse to the city or region where the most is allowed. In any case, the mayors want to draw a line in terms of enforcement, if that is still necessary.
