Corona incidence in Berlin rises to 1593 – the middle cracks the 3000 mark

The corona incidence in Berlin is increasing again: the value was 1593.4 on Tuesday, as can be seen from the Senate’s management report. The day before the value was 1464.5.

The incidence indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been shown to have been newly infected with the corona virus in the past seven days.

With the increased incidence, Berlin has also reached the highest value of all federal states.

According to Senate data from Tuesday morning, 13,211 (previous day: 683) new infections were registered. This means that 467,893 people in Berlin have been infected with the virus since the beginning of the pandemic.

There were three other deaths. 4088 people have died in Berlin since the beginning of the pandemic from or with the disease caused by the pathogen.

The situation in the districts

All counties reported new cases on Tuesday. Most were registered in Mitte (+2627) and Tempelhof-Schoeneberg (+2087). The fewest were reported from Marzahn-Hellersdorf (+412).

With the seven-day incidence, ten districts have exceeded the 1000 threshold: Hotspot is still in the middle with 3166.2 (previous day: 2842.9). Pankow also passed the 2000 mark on Tuesday: 2034.5. It was followed by Spandau with 1915.8, Neukölln with 1887.2 and Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg with 1878.2.

The Corona traffic light

In order to include a more meaningful indicator in the Corona traffic light, the relative change in the seven-day incidence was replaced by the hospitalization incidence. The seven-day incidence and the occupancy of the intensive care beds remain unchanged.

According to the management report, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants – equivalent to the seven-day incidence for all of Berlin – is 1593.4 (previous day: 1464.5) – the traffic light is RED.

The seven-day hospitalization incidence is 15.6 (previous day: 16.8) – the traffic light is RED.

This indicator shows how many people per 100,000 inhabitants were hospitalized after a corona infection within a week. The indicator is green when the value is below 4. From 4 the traffic light switches to yellow, at 8 to red.

The utilization of the intensive care beds by corona patients is 17.2 percent (previous day: 16.8 percent) – the traffic light is YELLOW.

The yellow limit here is 5 percent, and this traffic light also turns red at 20 percent.
