DOW JONES–Consumer confidence in the euro area improved in October. The index determined by the EU Commission rose by 0.7 to minus 14.2 points. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires had forecast a reading of minus 15.1. For the EU-27, the value improved by 0.8 points to minus 13.5. The final consumer confidence index reading for October will be released next week.
