Congo judge sentences 51 people to death for murder of UN employees | Abroad

UN officials Zaida Catalán (left) and Michael Sharp (right) were abducted along with four Congolese on March 13, 2017.  Their bodies were found several weeks later.  Catalán turned out to be beheaded.

KANANGA – A military court in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday sentenced 51 people to death, several in absentia, for the 2017 murder of two United Nations employees. Their executions in the insurgent region of Kasai shocked the diplomatic community and international aid organizations at the time.
