The SC Paderborn chapter ended for ex-national player Max Kruse after just a few months. As the second division soccer team announced on Friday, the 35-year-old’s contract was terminated “by mutual agreement.”
There had been speculation about a departure in the past few days. “Reviersport” reported on Tuesday that Kruse had said goodbye to his teammates.
“Both sides imagined the sporting development differently,” said sports director Benjamin Weber: “Because the current situation was not satisfactory for us and for the player, we separated. During his time in Paderborn, Max always behaved in an exemplary manner .”
The 14-time national player and 307-time Bundesliga striker signed a one-year contract with the East Westphalians in the summer after his contract with VfL Wolfsburg was terminated in November last year.
Kruse’s move caused a stir, but he was hardly able to help the SCP in terms of sport. Also due to injury, Kruse only played 194 minutes in which he managed one assist.
