Since the outbreak of the war, the Ukrainian city has acted as a refuge for many Ukrainians. Bruges has been supporting the Sister City for several years, including with auxiliary voyages and sharing expertise. Bogdan Kelichavyi, Mayor Kopychyntsi: “We also work with Bruges on health care. We were lucky to receive a lot of surgical material and instruments for our hospital that is managed by our city. This helped us to increase the quality of our services and receive more patients in our hospital.”
