Last week, the names of six employees of the Dutch intelligence services AIVD and MIVD were published on a Chinese-language news site. That writes de Volkskrant Tuesday. NRC has also viewed the message, but has not been able to determine whether the published names are actually those of Dutch intelligence employees.
The message on the Hungarian news site also contains the logo of chip manufacturer Nexperia. Outgoing Minister Vincent Karremans (VVD) of Economic Affairs intervened in September at the Nijmegen company because, according to him, knowledge was being transferred to China. This led to an international trade conflict in which China threatened to shut down parts of the European car industry. The delivery of chips has now resumed.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Economic Affairs arrived late on Tuesday morning NRC know not to want to comment on “speculations” in the article of de Volkskrant about the link between the Chinese article and the riot around Nexperia. A spokesperson for the AIVD says they have taken note of the message, but cannot make any statements about employees.
