It will be an exceptionally warm day for this time of year today. With temperatures rising to 14 degrees, it will probably be the hottest December 9 ever. The old record dates from 1964. That year there was a white Christmas.
“We remain in double figures today,” says NH weatherman Jan Visser on NH Radio. “It is now 12 degrees and it could even be 14 degrees tonight. Tonight it will not be colder than 11 degrees.” It is cloudy and it may rain occasionally. It can be windy at sea tonight. “This is due to Depression Bram, which causes a heavy storm in Ireland.”
Tomorrow, according to the weatherman, it will be a bit brighter and it will remain dry in most places and it will be 13 degrees. “Thursday and Friday the weather will be dry with temperatures around 10 degrees,” says Visser.
No white Christmas
Although he was still a child, Jan Visser still remembers the winter of 1964 well. Although it was relatively warm on December 9, it was still a white Christmas. “Christmas night, 10 centimeters of snow fell. I spent the whole time looking outside. That was beautiful!”
It doesn’t look like that will happen this year either. “It will remain around 10 degrees until mid-December.” The temperature then decreases and on December 22, 7 degrees is expected.
