Champions League: final in the USA? UEFA boss Ceferin: “It’s possible”

Quoted from Chris_15

are we honest On the one hand, thousands of people are happy that the NFL is coming to Europe. It is clear that football will give something back for this. It’s a bit hypocritical when fans celebrate the NFL in Europe but then demonize games in the US.
However, you have to make the difference between a normal season game and the CL final. The latter is like the Super Bowl of football. So I can understand the criticism in this regard.

By the way, I’m not an NFL fan and I think the sport could stay in the USA. It will come. Let’s not fool ourselves. Too bad, but it’s all about the coal. If the CL final is sold overseas, other dams will definitely break. It will be Super Cup games of the leagues, some of which have already been played in China or elsewhere, official league match days abroad (as Spain has already discussed) and and and… it will be interesting to see how much soul there will be in football at the end still remains.

Well, you can’t say that like that. Neither do Americans owe Europeans NFL games because Europe covets NFL games…nor do Europeans owe Americans CL games because North America covets CL games.

The NFL took the step because there are no principles in American football when it comes to locations and nations. It’s all about economic and sporting expansion.

European football, on the other hand, has been characterized by significantly more traditional principles and loyalty to one’s location, and that’s still the case, even if these principles have of course slowly been gradually being dismantled. But just because the NFL does what it does doesn’t mean that UEFA or Europe is obliged to do the same with European football.

This is purely a matter of principle. And the question is simple. Should European football remain a European brand? Or should it become a global brand? A CL final in the US would fully serve capitalist interests.

But at the same time it would be a decision against Europe…
