Carla from Zoetermeer in the first broadcast of Heel Holland Bakt: ‘Tik ‘m an’

Carla from Zoetermeer participated in the first episode of season 11 of Heel Holland Bakt. She made a filled cake with banana and liqueur, Bossche bollen and a real spectacle. “I’m here, yes. I put my hair up, makeup on, so what more could you want,” she said before starting her first baking assignment.

Season 11 of All of Holland Bakt consists of eight episodes of 50 minutes long. Ten candidates work from a tent on the Maarsbergen estate on three assignments: a classic recipe, a technical assignment and, finally, the spectacle. A candidate is eliminated in each episode.

Carla introduces herself

In the first broadcast, the ten candidates introduced themselves. This also applies to 58-year-old Carla from Zoetermeer. In her introductory video she was seen with her husband and two children in the backyard of her house in Noordhove, where they ate her home-baked cake together. In the broadcast she said that she ‘talks too much’ and that she can only be silenced in the sauna. During the week she assists an endodontist with root canal treatments.

Go with that banana

For the very first assignment she made a filled banana cake with pecan nuts and almond liqueur. In the broadcast, Carla joked to culinary journalist Janny that she would pour the entire bottle of almond liqueur into the cake batter “so they could have a good time”. After an hour and forty-five minutes she threw her turban in perfect shape on a shelf and shouted to André van Duin: “Tick it!” Jury member Robèrt’s verdict was mediocre: “The cake is not cooked and the taste is therefore lost. That’s too bad.”

Bossche bollen and a tower of mini cakes

For the second, technical assignment, Carla Bossche baked dumplings. According to the jury, one ball resembled a pita, the choux was not baked properly, but the chocolate layer on a few balls was completely good. During the final assignment, Carla made the ‘French Tower of Pisa’ of financiers. These are small, sturdy cakes that were appreciated by the jury. Carla passed the first broadcast and is through to the next round.
