Car catches fire on the A50, diversion set until the afternoon

A car caught fire on the A50 at the Paalgraven junction on Wednesday morning. The highway was completely closed from Arnhem in the direction of Oss and road users were guided across the emergency lane at Ravenstein. This caused an hour’s delay at the height of the traffic jam.

Around a quarter past ten, Rijkswaterstaat reported that both lanes were open again. The burnt-out car had already been recovered. An asphalt expert was also on the way. The road needed to be cleaned and repaired.

A diversion had been set up from the Valburg junction for traffic in the direction of Den Bosch. This via Tiel and Den Bosch (A15 and A2).
