Bitter news for FC St. Pauli: A key player is not available for the team against Wolfsburg. It is still unclear how long he will be missing.

FC St. Pauli will again have to do without their captain Jackson Irvine. The Australian is out with problems on his left foot. This is a bitter setback for the 32-year-old. He had already had an operation at the same place in April 2025 and then had to take a break for almost six months.

The Hamburgers announced the bad news one day before the northern duel at VfL Wolfsburg (Wednesday, from 6:30 p.m. live in the t-online ticker). “Due to the problems that have now arisen, no further use will be possible for the time being. The further procedure is currently being coordinated between all those involved,” said the Bundesliga club.

The loss is particularly difficult for St. Pauli. After his return in October, Irvine played a key role in ensuring that the “Kiezkicker” were able to end their series of nine Bundesliga defeats at the beginning of December. Irvine is considered a key player in the team’s central midfield. It is still unclear how long the captain will be missing this time.
