Karl Geiger recently convinced from the hill, showed himself in top form shortly before the winter games. At the home World Cup in Willingen, too, the man from Oberstdorf wanted to say hello from the front. But nothing came of it – on the contrary.

The German ski jumping aces Karl Geiger and Markus Eisenbichler missed a good placement in the first competition of the Olympic dress rehearsal in Willingen. Geiger (Oberstdorf) only flew to 20th place with 120.5 meters (74.5 points), Eisenbichler (Siegsdorf) just saved himself with 118.5 meters (30th/64.9) in the supposed final, but not that was discharged. Due to difficult wind conditions, the race organizers stopped jumping after the first round.

Leyhe and friend strong

Tournament winner Ryoyu Kobayashi (Japan) clinched victory after a jump of 145.0 meters (115.6). Second place went to the Norwegian Halvor Egner Granerud, who won both individual events in Willingen last year. His compatriot Marius Lindvik was third with 137.0 meters (107.0). Severin Freund (Rastbüchl), who was not nominated for the Olympics, surprised with a jump of 140.0 meters (104.2) and finished fourth just behind the podium. Stephan Leyhe also impressed in his home country, the 30-year-old finished sixth (136.5 meters / 97.0).

Constantin Schmid (Oberaudorf), who was nominated for the Olympics, came in a strong eleventh, Andreas Wellinger jumped to twelfth place on his comeback after a corona infection and knee problems. Pius Paschke (Kiefersfelden), who received a ticket to Beijing, only finished 32nd with 112.0 meters.
