Discouragement prevails after Monday’s debate in the Senate between Pedro Sánchez and Núñez Feijóo. The most worrying thing this time was not the tone – which improved somewhat – but the fact that the vision of our economy that both leaders conveyed is so incompatible that both lost credibility. For Sánchez, the European economy will have problems, but Spain is doing well (Aznar complex?), and the Government will have plenty of resources to support all social spending. Without taking into account that Spain is a medium-sized boat in the great tidal wave of the world economy. For Feijóo, everything is going wrong and Spain is at the bottom of Europe. And it will get worse because of sectarianism (Sánchez is not a Felipe-style social democrat but a radical).
