Call to Jetten: provide battery of MBO students against power shortage | Financial

Congestion on the power grid is an increasingly acute problem. The connection of large-scale solar and wind farms is being delayed. In many places, businesses have to wait for connections to be widened if they want to electrify, and even citizens cannot always use their solar energy.

200 million

The fourteen parties, including business organizations such as VNO-NCW and network operators united in Netbeheer Nederland, warn the cabinet that Minister Jetten (Climate) should take charge of the issue. A €200 million-per-year stimulus program can help tackle congestion.

Network companies already invest €3 billion annually in broadening the power grid. Yet that is not enough. Installers and scientists recently warned in this newspaper that the 2030 climate targets will not be achieved due to the overcrowded electricity grid. The fourteen parties propose to Minister Jetten to set up a Grid Capacity Action Team.
