Today the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations is starting a consultation on harsh laws and regulations. This online consultation allows anyone to pass on laws and regulations that have the unintended consequence of putting people in an excessive pinch. The cabinet is conducting this investigation at the request of the House of Representatives.

Laws and regulations can sometimes inadvertently lead to injustices that put people in a bind, without this being foreseen or intended. An example of this is an accumulation of (financial) problems, because too little attention is paid to the underlying situation of people. To prevent this in the future, the government is therefore testing new laws and regulations on this. In addition, it is investigated which existing laws and regulations put people in a bind. This consultation has been set up for that purpose.

Each ministry is currently investigating the laws and regulations in question. The ministries do this in different ways. For example, by entering into discussions with organizations that implement the laws and regulations. But also by listening to people with this consultation.

The purpose of the consultation is to find examples of laws or regulations that unintentionally have the effect of putting people in a bind. The consultation will start today, February 8, and will close on March 8. The consultation is via this link reach.
