Overflowing garbage containers, postponed surgery dates and even greater chaos among authorities… Due to the unsuccessful negotiations following the previous warning strikes at the beginning of February, the Verdi trade union has now called for protests again.
Affected by the all-day strikes this time are: the Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR), the Wasserbetriebe (BWB), Charité, Vivantes-Kliniken as well as the Jewish hospital, federal institutions, the Bundeswehr and the water and shipping administration, the Federal Employment Agency, the German pension insurance, the bathing establishments, the student union , the University of Applied Sciences, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and the Annedore Leber Vocational Training Center.
The BSR strike in particular is likely to cause a bad mood in Berlin. Because after the strike comes International Women’s Day on Wednesday. So the garbage in the capital remains for the time being. Until Thursday!
The strikers’ demand: 10.5 percent more wages per month from January 1, 2023.
